In 2011, while a medical student on a mission working to improve maternal and child healthcare in India, our founder, Annie Ryu, was introduced to a giant, green, spiky fruit—jackfruit. This nutritious plant was a local staple, yet up to 70% of it was going to waste because there wasn’t a supply chain in place.

Annie saw value in jackfruit with its natural resilience to draught and disease. Jackfruit has a strong nutritional profile with high fiber, lower calories and fat than traditional meat, making it a perfect addition to any meal. With a vision to support farmers and nourish the planet, she set out to make jackfruit known around the world.

Annie didn’t just find a fruit; she found a mission. Trading a stethoscope for jackfruit, she saw a chance to improve lives on a massive scale. By building global supply chains and creating market opportunities for farmers, Annie turned her passion into a delicious reality. And just like that, The Jackfruit Company was born.

From Boulder, Colorado, we’re serving up 100% vegan, all-natural jackfruit dishes that are as easy to prepare as they are satisfying. We’re on a mission to make jackfruit a global sensation while empowering over 1,700 farming families. Today, you can find our foods in stores, restaurants, and cafeterias across the world.
